JoAnn Horowitz Memorial Scholarship

Long time West Suburban Teachers Union activist Jo Ann Horowitz, retiree from Morton Council, passed away suddenly in January, 2006. A memorial service was held by her family at the Morton Arboretum on August 20. Information about the Jo Ann Horowitz Local 571 Scholarship was unveiled at the service. The Local 571 House of Representatives wanted Jo Ann's legacy to continue by awarding a yearly scholarship to a Local 571 member's child or grandchild who is a college student pursuing a career in teaching or women's studies.
