Furlough Days

There are many rumors and much misinformation regarding the Governors Quinn letter on furlough days  that was distributed to all state employees under the Governor last Friday, August 7. The letter applies to all non-union state employees. Furlough Days must be bargained with each union representing state employees as it is a mandatory subject of bargaining. Mandatory subjects of bargaining are wages, hours and working conditions. IFPE has received notice from CMS that the State of Illinois requests to sit down and discuss furlough days as well as other options that may alleviate the States fiscal problems due to lack of funding by the State legislature. When a date is set with CMS the IFPE bargaining teams will be called in to discuss those issues. At this time no date is set.  No furlough days for IFPE members until such time as there is an agreement reached and voted on by the membership.
